Presentation Abstracts

The 'State' of the Data Warehouse: Trends in the Industry

This session will be a review of trends and directions in the industry. While it's obvious that most warehouses are growing, where is it going to stop? What are the pressures on the infrastructure and delivery teams? What is working for business today? As part of this tour, you'll learn where "the rocks in the river" are located.
Master Data Management – Why, What & How

This session will introduce Master Data Management (MDM). MDM will be defined in terms of what it is and what it isn't, including comparing MDM to data warehousing. The session will compare the most common implementation methodologies and the different styles of MDM. Job roles, skills needed, and technologies to implement MDM will be included in the presentation.
DB2 V9 for z/OS Migration Planning

DB2 9 for z/OS continues to extend on DB2’s leadership in the areas of availability, scalability, and performance; while delivering several complimentary, extensible features. DB2 9 for z/OS introduces new design choices to meet your enterprise application and governance needs. This presentation is an excerpt from the DB2 9 for z/OS Migration Planning Workshop and will focus on migration planning. Topics covered in the presentation include: packaging, prerequisites and migration processes. Attendees will also receive an abbreviated checklist covering: prerequisites, feature considerations and migration considerations.
DB2 for z/OS Data Warehousing

IBM DB2 Data Warehouse Edition (DWE) is a flexible warehousing architecture that provides a powerful foundation to support current and future business needs related to managing and using information. This presentation is an overview of the integrated components of DWE with emphasis on the new and improved features of version 9.5.
Data Warehousing Implementation

Implementing a data warehouse requires many design decisions with respect to hardware and software configuration. This session will review IBM's Balanced Warehouse approach and portfolio on AIX, Linux, and Windows. In addition, this session will provide a peek at a new module that IBM is working on to more prescriptively define the ETL process.
