What DB2 People Should Know about SOA -- Robert Catterall (Catterall Consulting)
Misperceptions about Service-Oriented Architecture abound. Do you think that WebTBD services equates to SOA? Do you think that mainframes and SOA are mutually exclusive? Do you think that loose coupling of application components implies multiple back-end database servers? Wrong, wrong, and wrong. This session aims to demystify SOA concepts and terminology, explain the relationship between SOA and XML, and describe the advantages of SOA in business terms.DB2 for z/OS Stored Procedures "In the Mainstream" -- Robert Catterall (Catterall Consulting)
Not so long ago, DB2 for z/OS stored procedures were a fringe element of many an organization’s application infrastructure. Now, they’re commonplace. In this session, I’ll describe the benefits of stored procedure utilization. I’ll also provide information on how they work (i.e., what goes on “under the covers”), along with recommendations on stored procedure coding, definition, and management.Take the IBM Data Studio Tour -- Marichu N. Scanlon (IBM Corporation)
Take a tour of the new IBM Data Studio data tooling for DB2 on z/OS, iSeries, LUW and Informix. Check out what IBM Data Studio is and what it can do. Then see a demo of the tool and the Unified Debugger feature.Setting up DB2 for z/OS for developing stored procedures with IBM Data Studio -- Marichu N. Scanlon (IBM Corporation)
IBM Data Studio provides functions for designing, developing, deploying, managing and governing data objects. Here we focus on what the DB2 for z/OS developer needs to know in order to use IBM Data Studio for developing and deploying stored procedures.
